Thanks, John, for you being at Titan today for WFD!
I'll be at Titan tomorrow with Dain, K7SXN. We'll be there until at least the end of WFD at 1200 lcl. Feel free to stop by and give a holler on the discone antenna with us!

While the club will not be running a club Winter Field Day outing this year, there are a couple of small groups that will be setting up and doing small WFD events.
John Perlick will be setting up at the Titan Missile Museum on Saturday afternoon. The contest starts at NOON and we can only start setting up at noon --but it should be pretty quick. He will probably be on for 3-4 hours depending on how hungry I get.
John Perlick will be running an Icom IC 705 probably amplified up to 100 W and all battery power.
Any and all members are welcome to swing by for a spin at the mic or key. John has been asked to not use the club call so you can use your own call or his. No worries. Just FUN!

2022 GVARC Winter Field Day
1/24/2022
Hello GVARC Members:
The Green Valley Amateur Radio Club will participate in WINTER FIELD DAY this year.
The full WFD rules can be found here: https://www.winterfieldday.com/
When: Winter Field Day runs for 24 hours during the last full weekend in January each year from 1900 UTC (12 Noon here in Arizona) Saturday to 1900 UTC (12 Noon) Sunday. For 2022 the dates are January 29th and 30th. We will set up the station starting at 8 AM on the contest Saturday.
Where: The Green Valley ARC will hold their WFD event at the Green Valley Fire Department Training Center Room at 1285 W. Camino Encanto, Green Valley, AZ 85622. Please enter at the East side of the building at the East parking lot.
Stations: We will have TWO stations—that means we can never have more than two stations transmitting at the same time.
We also want to make at least one contact on VHF and UHF bands—they act as score multipliers. So we need someone to bring their handheld and make a couple of contacts on the repeaters. One station will have to stop transmitting while we make these contacts.
Food and Beverages: Bring your own. Bring your own cooler. Because of Covid, we will not be sharing food this time.
How to Participate: Sign up! Jon Otto has set up a Sign Up Genius page for participants (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805094baca72fa6ff2-gvarc2). The sign up page works like this:
We are looking for volunteers for the station set ups prior to the contest. Please sign up and show up Saturday morning to help.
We are looking for volunteers to help tear down after the contest ends. Please sign up and show up to help tear down the station. It will probably take a couple hours to tear down the stations
You can sign up for operating either station for one-hour slots on the Sign Up Genius set. Note that the 20 m station is likely to be pretty boring at night. We will stay on the air as late as anyone wants to stay.
Covid Rules: The GVFD rules require you to wear a mask at all times in the building. This can be inconvenient if you are using a microphone, so you may take off your mask if you are operating phone but ONLY if you maintain six foot separation from everyone. Please wear a mask at all times in the building unless you are operating phone.
NOTE: We have just reserved the GVFD Training Room for all future meetings. Please don’t ruin this for the entire club by not following GVFD rules.
We will have hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes available for all participants. Bring your own masks.
Station Operating Rules:
Rig will be an Icom 7300.
Antenna will be a dedicated 20 m dipole.
Choose your frequencies, but the suggested WFD frequencies are 14.035 to 14.055 on CW and 14.225 to 14.255 on SSB.
All Band Station:
Thanks
John Perlick

Station Operating Rules:
- You can operate CW or USB at your choice.
- All logging must be done on the logging computer set up at the station. If you prefer to log your shift by paper, you must log your contacts into the computer later.
- If you want another person to be a logger, then you must find your own logger operator.
- Because of Covid, if you want to use headphones, BRING YOUR OWN. No headphones will be available to share. If you want a headset (with headphones and microphone, bring your own).
- A Bencher morse code paddle will be available. If you want something else, bring your own (1/4” phone jack)
- You MUST wipe down the microphone or paddle, keyboard, mouse, etc. with a sanitizing wipe after your operating shift is over.
Rig will be an Icom 7300.
Antenna will be a dedicated 20 m dipole.
Choose your frequencies, but the suggested WFD frequencies are 14.035 to 14.055 on CW and 14.225 to 14.255 on SSB.
All Band Station:
- Rig will be an Icom 7300. The antenna will be a 43 ft vertical with a tuner at the base. You MUST continue to tune the antenna when you change frequency by more than about 25-50 KHz. All you need to do is push the TUNER button on the front of the Icom 7300 (Left hand row of buttons, third from Top).
- Choose your frequencies as long as you don’t interfere with the 20m station. Suggested Frequencies: (to make it easier to find each other) HF CW – 1810-1820, 3.530-3.550, 7.030-7.050, 14.035-14.055, 21.030-21.050, 28.030- 28.040. HF SSB – lowest 30 kHz of the US General Class Phone bands (160m-15m), 28.400- 28.425MHz (10m) 6m/VHF/UHF – adjacent to, but not on, nationally recognized simplex calling channels
- Someone sign up to bring a handheld VHF/UHF transceiver and make a couple of contacts on the repeaters. You can work the same station on both bands.
Thanks
John Perlick
