Special Events
From time to time GVARC will hold a Special Event, where our station will be on the air making contacts with other Hams from around the world. Each special event has its own unique QSL card. Many operators use these QSL cards for collector's items. Look forward to our next special event. Look for our call sign (WE7GV ) on QRZ.com. Also for N7GV)
Valentine’s Day Special Event
1/14/2023
This year we are resuming the Valentines Day Special Event. It will be held in the parking lot of the Titan Missile Museum on Tuesday February 14th from 10:00am to 3:00pm. A few new twists are being implemented.
The snowbirds are supplying Wisconsin style brats and a few hotdogs along with buns, chips and condiments. The Club is supplying soda pop and water. You need NOT bring a dish to pass, but if you are inclined to do so you may.
All ladies in the Club or associated with Club members may operate the station. You need not hold an FCC ticket as a licensed “control operator” (probably Sharon, W9RNF) will be present and assist making contacts. Tom, K7VOA, has made up a cheat sheet to guide participants through a contact. We will be operating on 14.242mHz as WE7GV with the high-power Club station. The ladies participating will receive appropriate recognition.
We could use a couple of volunteers to help set up and tear down. Please let Ed or Tom know if you can help. There is no seating available at the site so bring your own chairs. Let’s hope for ideal weather and a big turnout.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Ed, N9MW, ed.n9mw@gmail .com or Tom, K7VOA, at tlang1080@gmail.com.

75th Anniversary of the US Air Force

On September 17th, the club did a special event at the Titan Missile Museum from 8 AM to 4 PM using the discone antenna and the club Icom 7300. The bands were pretty good and it was very busy across the 20 meter band most all day
Many thanks to everyone who participated, and those folks were:
Tom Smith K7AFA
Sharon Smith KF7YJW
Jeanne Crane KJ7HCP
Linda Boeck
Jerry Meil W6XL
Bruce Tewksbury K3BAT
Andrew Kempin KK7HWH
Jon Otto AD7GS
John Perlick K0UM
Dave Bowen N7DMB
John Lynn KL7CY
Rick Rogers K7RCR
The station was run for a full eight hours with virtually no down time. During that time 152 contacts in 24 states were logged. The event was a great success and a fitting 75th birthday celebration for the US Air Force.
A very big thank you also to Bob Junke, K7DC who designed the custom QSL card for the event.
Thank you again to all who participated.
