RFI Mitigation Group
Equipment manufacturing practices and FCC enforcement have diminished to the point we have a serious deterioration of our assigned radio spectrum. The need for capable assistance in maintaining our abilities to communicate as amateur radio operators is critical. In reality it is becoming more difficult and frustrating every day so some action needs to be taken.
At this time we are forming a group to deal with RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) problems. We will deal with both issues of interference to our amateur equipment and interference caused by our equipment. As can be expected, in many situations we can only advise people of solutions.
Our equipment and training will allow us to help locate offending faulty power lines, poorly designed household equipment such as plasma TV’s, power supplies, lighting fixtures, electric motors, machine control circuits, etc. We will also be able to show if your equipment meets transmission standards. However, if neighbor ‘s equipment is involved or there might be HOA or government involvement, the groups activity will be at your direction.
Some of the equipment we have available is shown in the following pictures. Members of the RFI Mitigation group are encouraged to trial and learn by using this equipment. Hopefully we can improve out arsenal with more state-of-the-art devices in the future.
