The AZ QSO Party is in two days. As of right now there are only two people signed up to operate and one to log with a third indicating they will operate while at the picnic. At the meeting last night no one indicated they were willing operate while at the picnic.
With this being said, quite frankly it is not worth the effort to bring my trailer over to the picnic, get everything set up and then have to tear it down for only three people to operate. The President agrees with me on this. If more people don't sign up prior to 5 PM tomorrow then I guess GVARC will not participate in the AZ QSO Party this year. I will notify those signed up.
Please consider signing up and supporting the club.

The Arizona QSO Party is Oct 14. Again this year it will be held in conjunction with the club fall picnic at Veteran's Park on Old Nogales Highway. The contest runs from 8 AM to 10 PM but we will be running only from 8 AM to 5 PM. Unless there are evening sports activities we have to be out of the park at dusk which on Oct 14th is around 6PM.
I am planning a very simple setup this year. We will be using the club IC 7300. The plan right now is to work 20 M phone. If someone wants to work CW that's fine. There will be a key provided but the operator will need to configure the radio and return it to phone mode when they are done. I will be providing my trailer and will have my generator to run the AC if needed. Radio power will be provided via battery. For an antenna we will be using a 17 ft whip with an above ground radial cut for 20 meters. Twenty meters will be the only band we will be using unless something happens that precludes this. There will be no changing bands just for the sake of changing bands though. For logging we will be using the N3FJP software. If you want to use headphones you will need to provide your own headphones. The 7300 uses a standard 3.5 mm (1/8") plug.
Those who sign up in advance will have priority to operate the radio. If there are open spots then anyone attending the picnic will be welcome to operate. Operating periods are for one hour. There will also be spots for loggers. If no one has signed up to log then the operator is responsible for logging their calls. Loggers who sign up in advance will have priority. If there are open spots then anyone attending the picnic will be welcome to log.
The trailer will be close to the picnic pavilion so folks will be welcome to come and visit during the picnic. Just please be quiet when in the trailer so as to not disturb the operator or logger.
I think this about covers everything. If anyone has questions please let me know.
