Green Valley N7GV Simplex Net
SIMPLEX Net Thursday Night at 7PM on 146.550 MHz FM & 446.50 MHz FM
The Green Valley (and surrounding areas) Simplex Net will meets each Thursday evening at 7PM MST on 146.55 MHz FM Simplex with no tone. It will be followed by a 446.50 MHz.
This net provides a weekly check of our equipment, antenna and radio programming.
We welcome relays to get everyone checked in.
We also use sweep calls to bring in stations not heard by net control.
We have had check ins from Tucson to Rio Rico.
If you don’t hear the net control, call any station that you do hear and say “<your call> requesting a relay” or stick around for a sweep call.
Net control for 146.55 will usually be KL7CY at the North end of Green Valley.
He uses a J-Pole on a short tripod on a flat roof normally with 5 watts, but can go to 50 watts on request. He usually has a radio listening on 146.55 in the shack and will answer calls anytime he is in the shack.
New Net Segment added
We have added 446.50 MHz FM Simplex which will be hosted by K9EX and follows the 2M segment.
*Our goal is to make 146.55 the Green Valley & Sahuarita local calling and chat frequency .
*We want to encourage HAMs to get operational on simplex.
*To put up an outside antenna to improve your coverage.
*Establish a fall back frequency if the repeaters are down or busy.
*Encourage everyone to program their radios with the common simplex frequencies
146.42, 146.44, 146.46, 146.48, 146.50
146.52 the national calling simplex frequency and often used for chatting
146.54, 146.55 for this net and often used as an event or talk in frequency
146.56, 146.58
For relays, just wait for a pause and say “RELAY” and wait for net control to recognize a relay.
For a sweep call when requested by net control can use a something like:
“This is <your call> sweeping for the Green valley Simplex net.
Please call <your call> for relay to net control”
If no response then make one more call and if still no response then call net control and report “NO CONTACT”
If a station responds to the sweep call, then request first name and general location. Call net control and relay the callsign, name and location of the station(s) that you swept up.
