The GVARC board has decided to simplify our station in the SAV building.
The goal is to increase the use of the station by having simpler gear available to the membership.
The original Yaesu FT-1000, linear amplifier, and SteppIR beam remains in place for those operators that want a more sophisticated high power station.
The GVARC added a simplify HF station in the club radio room.
The goal is to increase the use of the station and provide a first time HF user a basic radio to learn HF procedures.
The new basic station has an Icom IC-707 100 watt transceiver with a new Gap Titan Vertical all band antenna installed on the roof of the SAV building.
Efforts have been made to make this station as easy to operate as possible.
A copy of the owners manual is with the rig and can also be viewed by clicking the link and viewing it on-line
If you would like a check out on the use of the Radio several members will be able to help you.
Send the Web Master an email for a list of those members avalable.
Thanks to a lot of members that helped make this station possible.
Notably
Future Plans call for the IC-707 station to be remote controlled via the internet. Update on that project will be posted as progress is made.
