Vice President Ron Phillips AA7RP called the meeting to order at 19:00 and welcomed the 30 attendees. No new members or visitors were present.
Don reported that the only important event in the past month was Field Day. Everyone pitched in and all went well. John Mitchell isn’t here so we can’t have a report on scoring, but Jon Otto will give us a few more details later.
We have no assets in the Repeater Fund.
The General Fund has $1,151.98.
During the past month, Tom has made great improvements to the club’s station at the SAV. In addition to a thorough cleaning, he has placed the user manuals for our various radios in notebooks and has updated the logbooks and put them in notebooks. He plans to install electronic logging with a connection to Logbook of the World in the future. A monitor is needed for this purpose. If anyone has one to donate, please see Tom Lang. Holmes Nils N1LS will join Tom on the Club Station Committee. Tom also mentioned that we may have the QSL cards to qualify the club for a WAS (Worked All States) award. If not, we may be lacking only one state.
By any standards, the event was successful. We had 420, CW-QSO’s and 251 phone QSO’s. Other aspects netted 1600 points including: 100 percent emergency power, media publicity, set up in a public place, NTS to ARRL, W1AW Field Day message, formal NTS messages handled, and site visited by invited officials. Although the total may be somewhat less we still have achieved a higher score than past years. Jon mentioned possible future improvements such as electronic logging and digital QSO’s.
During the past month, our website received 503 hits from 370 different visitors. The visits came from 23 countries including: U.S., Brazil, Canada, Germany, U.K., Mexico, Greece, Russia, Indonesia, and Netherlands.
Ron Phillips AA7RP and Gene Schouweiler W0KAD presented an interesting, informative, and well-illustrated program about the recent installation of a microwave link at the Elephant Head repeater site. The Allstar Link System allows multiple users to connect to IRLP and Echolink at the same time. Possibly there will be a future Dstar linkage. Ron will provide documentation to assist members in using the new microwave linkage.
The meeting was adjourned at 19:46.
Our next meeting will be on August 11, 2010
