This month’s newsletter will consist, mainly, of a club roster. This one contains a lot more information than the one posted on the Web Page. Several members indicated to me that they’d rather not have their e-mail addresses and phone numbers posted on the net. We; All of us…listen carefully to what you tell us.
Congratulations to John Stauffer KF7ANL, on passing his tech and general in one sitting, and congratulations to Roberto Gil, who upgraded to General. Good work guys.

The Arizona House has passed this bill on a 54 to 4 vote for the last two years. We should leave the bill intact as Rep McLain presented it. The League of Cities & Towns, the County League, and others have not objected to the Bill.
We need to let our Representatives know that this the same Bill as the last two years.
In the Arizona Senate, the Chairman of the Government Committee is Jay Tibshraeny. He is from the Chandler Dist 21. Senator Harper has been demoted to the Vice-Chair. Rep McLain and I have discussed this and we are hopeful. There is also the possibility of having our Bill heard by the Public Safety & Human Services Committee, where Linda Gray is the Chairman.
We need to work the House to remind them this is the same Bill as the last two times. Our work in the Senate is to make the Senators familiar with the Bill so that it will pass.
We do not need to "compromise" anything about the Bill at this time.
If we work the Senators with our reasons and service, it will pass.
Best Wishes,
Dan Brown NA7DB
Here is the 2009 Arizona PRB-1 House Bill 2514. Rep McLain used the verbiage (Including HOA verbiage) she used in the past two bills (2007, 2008).
Jonathan Cowen KD5PNP had spoken to Sen Harper last year. Sen Harper wanted a minimum antenna height. Sen Harper did not like the word reasonable. I don't think a standard height would work for everyone. I think on very small lot a 50 foot or a 99 foot minimum height would not be reasonable. We have to be able to put up dipoles, small 2m/440 verticals and you could to that even in the smallest lot. Larger lots could accommodate larger antenna support structures and antennas. I still think reasonable is the right word.
I don't think we will have any problem getting thru the house since we sailed thru the last two years. The Senate (Sen Harper) will be our biggest struggle as in years past. If we can get it read in the senate I think it will pass.
