The meeting was called to order by our President Gene, W0KAD, at 7:00 PM.
Guests introduced were Dick Struters, N7FY, Vance Roth, W8YHZ, Glen Christopheson, VE6GC, and Leonard Moore from Vail.
Carolyn, AB7KC, gave the Treasurer’s report. We have $2,087.93 in the repeater fund and $1,757.23 in the General Fund for a total of $3,845.16.
Lloyd, N7GV, reported that his students at Continental School have completed their AM/FM radios. The boys are now working on remote control cars and the girls are making transparent phones. Lloyd presented a complete radio station for sale. A Yaesu FL-990 with amp and tuner as well as a hand held FT 530. Details on the website.
Sharon, KA9GPY, our picnic director, reminded us of our picnic next Thursday, Mar. 16th at Madera Canyon.
The website is now up and running and it is a beauty. Many thanks to Bob Junke who contributed the site to get it up and running and our webmaster Jon, AD7GS, who both put so much time in the project. Jon took us on a tour of the site and it is very impressive. Check it out and use it as everything you want to know is there.
We are reminded that SAV provides us with mucho support. In return we provide them with back-up communication. A practice drill is coming up and we want to be there for them. Can you believe, as I just finished this sentence, I was called for the drill. You can be proud of your club as 10 people responded, the drill was a success and communications went smoothly.
Ron, VE6RCP, gave an excellent briefing on Echolink and ILRP.
Our speaker, Lou Smith, N7KSB, gave a well-prepared presentation on QRP radios. He had a terrific handout for all present. QRP is really low power operation with P<5 watts and it is amazing the hundreds of countries he has worked using this mode. If anyone would like a copy of the handout, please contact Ted, W7DMT.
Bill, AA0TF, won the drawing for a World Radio Subscription.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
Sharon, KA9GPY, our picnic Director, really put on a GRAND SHOW at our Mar. 16th picnic at Madera Canyon. At least 50 of our club members and guests enjoyed the great food and hospitality. Thanks again for everyone's help and all the fantastic goodies that were brought. It was no day for counting calories. Also our geocache, which was sponsored by Bob and Linda, AD7FQ & FP, was enjoyed by many. One of the highlights was Dr. Ed's, N0XIR, 96th Birthday. That guy in front of that huge cake can't be 96. All the best Ed and we all hope you have plenty more, you are very special. For those of you that didn't make it, don't miss the next one, it was a great time.
