The Great Amerind Drive Out

Amerind_021 (49K) We had a wonderful day for our Drive Out to the Dragoon Mts. Before we met at the picnic area of the Amerind Foundation at Dragoon Az some of us parked at Benson to see the only working steam locomotive stopped by the way side for all to admire. Amerind_004 (89K)
Amerind_005 (104K) 12 of met at the park and enjoyed a delicious lunch with chili, egg salad sandwich, deviled eggs, bean pot, pumpkin squares, poppy seed squares and a sponge cake jelly roll filled with pineapple cream. Plus all the drinks and chips and veggie dips. Amerind_006 (94K)
Amerind_007 (87K) Gene had secured a docent to tell us about the museum. It is filled with native American artifacts. We did admire the fine paintings, statues and furniture. Amerind_008 (88K)
Amerind_007 (87K) On the way home some of us went to the remote Cochise Stronghold camping ground. We did find a road that led through the Dragoon Mts. and wound up in Tombstone. It was an exciting ride and a wonderful day and we are grateful to all who came and to Gene. Amerind_010 (89K)
